Installing aerothermal heating in Murcia has no fixed price: it depends on the capacity your home needs, whether it runs with underfloor heating, radiators or fan coils, whether it also provides hot water and the building work involved. There are currently grants and tax relief that reduce the cost, such as the national income tax (IRPF) deduction for energy efficiency, but they have deadlines and requirements, and they change.
Whether it pays off depends on your home: what you currently use for heating, how much you use the air conditioning in summer and how well it is insulated. Let's take it step by step.
What aerothermal heating does in a home in Murcia
Aerothermal heating is a heat pump that takes energy from the outside air and transfers it to a water circuit. With a single unit it covers three things:
- Heating in winter, through underfloor heating, radiators or fan coils.
- Cooling in summer, with fan coils or underfloor cooling.
- Domestic hot water for the whole house, with its own cylinder.
In Murcia that makes a lot of sense. Summers are long and hot and almost every home uses the air conditioning for several months a year, while winter is mild but still calls for heating in the mornings and evenings. A system that does both, plus hot water, makes use of the installation all year round.
It is particularly well suited to detached houses and homes in the outlying districts, such as Churra, El Puntal or Cabezo de Torres, to new builds and to full refurbishments of flats in the centre, Vistalegre or Santa María de Gracia where the floor is going to be lifted or the heating replaced.
How much aerothermal heating costs in Murcia: what the price depends on
Be wary of a fixed price given without seeing the house. On our aerothermal page we say it plainly: we don't give quotes over the phone or recommend a unit before the visit. These are the factors that affect the price most:
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Unit capacity | It comes from calculating the house: floor area, orientation, insulation and windows. More capacity than needed costs more and also works worse. |
| Emitters | If there is already underfloor heating, aerothermal heating performs very well. With radiators, you need to check whether they are suitable or whether any need replacing. Fan coils also allow cooling. |
| Hot water | Including it adds the storage cylinder and its installation. |
| What gets removed | Replacing a gas or oil boiler means removing it and adapting the existing installation. |
| Building work | Laying new underfloor heating is major work. If the house is being refurbished, it makes sense to do it then. |
| Zone control | A thermostat in each room makes the installation more expensive but saves money in day-to-day use. |
A typical mistake is buying by the unit's capacity, as if more were better. An oversized unit keeps starting and stopping, uses more energy and doesn't last as long. That is why the initial calculation is the most important part of the quote.

Grants and tax relief for aerothermal heating in Murcia in 2026
These are the grants and tax relief we have been able to verify in official sources as of November 2026. They change often, so check them with your tax adviser before installing, not afterwards.
National income tax (IRPF) deduction for improving energy efficiency
According to the Spanish Tax Agency, there are two deductions for work on your main home or on a rented home. Second homes are excluded:
- 20 % of the amount invested, with a maximum base of €5,000 a year, if the work reduces heating and cooling demand by at least 7%.
- 40 %, with a maximum base of €7,500 a year, if it reduces non-renewable primary energy consumption by at least 30% or the home reaches an A or B energy rating. This is the one that usually applies when replacing a gas or oil boiler with aerothermal heating.
You need two energy performance certificates: one before the work and another afterwards showing the improvement. Royal Decree-Law 7/2026 extended the deadline: the work must be carried out by 31 December 2026 and the second certificate issued before 1 January 2027. If you are thinking about it now, time is short. In addition, payment cannot be made in cash, and any grants you receive are deducted from the base.
Region of Murcia deduction for renewable energy
The Region of Murcia has a deduction in the regional portion of income tax (IRPF) for installing renewable energy systems for self-consumption in your main home or in a rented home located in the Region. The percentage depends on your income and has a cap. Ask for an invoice from an authorised installer and pay by bank transfer or card. Whether aerothermal heating qualifies for this deduction in your case is something worth confirming with your adviser before counting on it.
Energy Savings Certificates (CAE)
The savings you achieve by replacing a boiler with a heat pump can be certified and sold within the Energy Savings Certificates scheme. In July 2026 the Ministry for the Ecological Transition put out for consultation a proposal to give those savings more value when a fossil fuel boiler is replaced with a heat pump in homes. How much you recover depends on each case and on the market.
At Davofrío we prepare the paperwork these schemes require: the installation certificate under the RITE (Spain's building thermal installations regulations) and photos of the equipment removed. A document submitted late can cost you the grant.
Does aerothermal heating pay off in your home in Murcia?
It depends on what you have now and how you use the house. As a rough guide:
| Your home | Does it usually pay off? |
|---|---|
| Detached house in an outlying district with an oil boiler or butane bottles | Yes, this is usually the clearest case: you stop buying fuel and gain cooling. |
| New build or full refurbishment with underfloor heating | Yes. This is where aerothermal heating performs best. |
| House with solar panels | Yes, because part of the electricity it uses is produced by your own installation. |
| Flat with gas radiators that work well | It depends on the radiators and the insulation. It needs looking into. |
| Small flat that only needs air conditioning in summer | Usually not. A good air conditioner with a heat pump handles cooling and heating for less. |
If you have radiators and don't want to lift the floor, in the post on aerothermal heating in a flat with radiators we explain how it's done. If you're also thinking about solar panels, read the key points of solar self-consumption in Murcia.

Mistakes that stop aerothermal heating performing well
Aerothermal heating is an investment for around 20 years. Whether it works well depends more on the installation than on the brand. These are the faults we find when we are called out to check units that use more than expected:
- Oversized unit, which starts and stops all day long.
- Too little capacity for the house, so it can't keep up on cold mornings.
- Air in the circuit, which causes noise and loss of performance.
- Uninsulated pipes, with condensation in summer.
- Poorly adjusted valves and heating curve, so the water comes out hotter than necessary.
How we handle aerothermal heating at Davofrío
We have been in air conditioning since 2003, with our own technicians and an ISO 9001:2015 quality system. For aerothermal heating we follow these steps:
- Initial survey of the house, with Adrián or an engineer: we measure and calculate how the home behaves thermally.
- Calculation of capacity, heating curve and hydraulic balancing, so the unit also performs well on humid days.
- Fixed written quote after the visit.
- Clean, tidy installation, with properly made joints and bleeding.
- Commissioning with monitoring, so you can see how much it uses.
If needed, we integrate it with solar PV or underfloor heating. We are the official service agent for brands such as Daikin, Panasonic, Bosch and Hitachi, so we carry out repairs and adjustments ourselves with original spare parts. More detail on our page about aerothermal heating.
Frequently asked questions about aerothermal heating in Murcia
How much does it cost to install aerothermal heating in Murcia?
It depends on the capacity the house needs, the emitters (underfloor heating, radiators or fan coils), whether it includes hot water and the building work. That is why we give a fixed price after visiting the home and doing the calculation.
What grants are available for aerothermal heating in 2026?
The national income tax (IRPF) deduction for energy efficiency (20% or 40% depending on the improvement, for work carried out by 31 December 2026), a Region of Murcia deduction for renewable energy and Energy Savings Certificates. They change often: check them with your adviser before installing.
Does aerothermal heating also provide cool air in summer?
Yes, with fan coils or underfloor cooling. In Murcia it is one of its big advantages: the same unit provides heating, cooling and hot water.
Can I have aerothermal heating if I have radiators?
In many cases yes, without lifting the floor. You need to check whether the radiators give out enough heat with water at a lower temperature and whether any of them need replacing.
Do you work in the outlying districts of Murcia?
Yes. From our Murcia office we cover the centre, Santa María de Gracia, Vistalegre, El Ranero, Espinardo, Churra and the outlying districts.
